After your registration/nomination as a candidate member you will be invited by the Havenclub Amsterdam to participate in an introductory meeting with the Advisory Committee. The balloting procedure will take place on one of the following Havenclub meetings, prior to the dinner. The Advisory Committee will tell you all about the history and traditions of the Havenclub Amsterdam and will answer all your questions. They will judge - with a wink - whether your membership will contribute to the purpose of Havenclub Amsterdam.

The Advisory Committee will subsequently advise the board about your candidacy. If the advice is positive, you will be invited to join the Havenclub dinner. During dinner the chairman - or in his absence his representative - will ask you to introduce yourself to the members present. The members will be given the opportunity to pillory you about your knowledge and experience in the harbor, your marital status and your hobbies, after which they will decide whether or not to accept you as a fellow member of Havenclub Amsterdam. If you withstand this procedure - and we expect you will do so splendently - you may call yourself a member of Havenclub Amsterdam and you will then receive the login for the private area on this website.
