Havenclub Amsterdam aims to promote personal contact amongst managers that are involved in the harbor- and transport activities in the Amsterdam North Sea Canal region and thus create a network amongst harbor related companies. This is expected to contribute to mutual activity.

This goal is realised by organizing social activities, amongst which the monthly Havenclub dinner. The Havenclub convenes evenry third Thursday of the month (except July and August) from 17.30 hour for dinner, drinks and discussion:

• at the Industrieele Groote Club on the Dam 27 in Amsterdam (September - December) or
• in Graan voor Visch at the Hoge Land 4 in Velsen-Zuid (Januari until June).

There is ample opportunity to network during the pre-dinner drinks. During dinner recent developments in the harbor area are discussed. Subsequent there is room for after talk enjoying coffee, tea and/or a digestive.

Havenclub Amsterdam is no interest group. The Havenclub Amsterdam does not take stands, but offers a podium for informal discussion about important themes. Everything that is said during dinner, is voiced as a personal opinion and is expected to stay indoors.

Havenclub Amsterdam momentarily has 238 members. The members are from the most divergent professions and have a management position in companies that have an interest in the Amsterdam North Sea Canal region. The Havenclub members form a fairly true to nature reflection of the harbor sector. Sea ports and port related companies form an important part, but airport Schiphol and companies form the Zaanstreek are also represented. Although the harbor sector is considered to be a predominantly 'male community', 10% of the members is female.

New members are nominated by existing members and pass an informal balloting procedure, where the goal and traditions of the Havenclub Amsterdam briefly are elucidated.
